“On Confiscated Powder-like Medicinal Product”

The Management of the Liberia Medicines & Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA) is calling on the public to report anyone caught selling a recently-confiscated powder-like medicinal product from the market that is said to be capable curing infections and several illnesses.

Recently, the Inspectorate and Post Market Surveillance Department got a tipoff from their intelligence and surveillance officers about a substandard, falsified medicinal product that was illegally imported into Liberia through the Sierra Leone border.

By law, all pharmaceutical and health products brought in the country should pass through the air and seaports, and also, they should be registered with the LMHRA, tested at the quality control laboratory and approved before being sold or taken by anyone.

Furthermore, LMHRA Management says all medicinal products brought into the country must be tested at the Quality Control Laboratory and approved before being sold or taken by anyone.

Therefore, the management of the LMHRA is calling on the public to report to the authority via our hotlines, anyone illegally selling medicines, in buckets, plastic bags, back-bags and on open market tables.
